    Greenhorn/newbie/beginner

    Hi,

Name is Ross, born and bred in the Redlands, Queensland - just south of Brisbane.

Been considering a couple different Pitbull kits for about 6 months now. Finally bit the bullet yesterday and ordered a GR-1SF. I have got a little bit of woodwork experience with a few different projects I have done, as well as quite a bit of 12 volt electrical work with cars and boats. Hopefully this gives me enough knowledge and skills to end up with something more than just "a passable" effort.

Thinking a Karajini red body (maybe a darker stain to enhance the grain first - waiting to see the actual kit I get first), chrome hardware, with matching Karajini neck -or maybe bloodwood. Anyone with any thoughts on that combo???

Anyway, should be on my doorstep next week - fingers crossed.

    Cheers

Ross. P.S. Probably many questions headed this way!

Welcome aboard, I'm not far from you up on the fridge on the hill.

Start up a build diary and ask away. You'll get better replies that way as we can follow along. There are no stupid questions either so don't worry about looking silly. We were all beginners once and this forum is very positive and encouraging.

Deep red always looks good on those hollow bodies IMO, but choice of finish is always a personal thing. Regardless of what you choose to do, someone will have experience and advice to offer.

Welcome Rossco, as Sonic said we were all novices once. And remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

    Good luck with the build.

Thanks for the welcome. Took me long enough to decide on a kit and now itching to see it and get a start.

Is it wrong to be already thinking of the next one???

Um, no that’s pretty standard around here.
    Then there are the exceptions.
Iron willed individuals that build just the one.
Those that succumb to maybe a strat and a Tele, and maybe a G company style to round things out.

Then, there are the Basement Mad Scientists working on aspects of three or four while a fifth and sixth dry or await parts and are planning a seventh or eighth as they draw up plans for a scratch build baritone multi scale and collecting tone woods and figured timber for another several build ideas.

    or, so I’ve heard 😳🙄

    Welcome Ross.
So YES, it is wrong to be thinking of only the next ONE! The next one should all ready be ordered, and there should be a long wish list already planned for your future builds.
    PitBull Builds: FVB-4, LP-1SS, FBM-1, AG-2, TB-4, SSCM-1, TLA-1, TL-1TB, STA-1HT, DSCM-1 Truckster, ST-1, STA-1, MBM-1.

Scratch Builds: Pine Explorer, Axe Bass, Mr Scary, Scratchy Tele's.

The little voices in my head keep telling me "build more guitars"

You should definitely just stop right now (and send me your money so I can order my next project).
