A quick query.....with this weird body shape....where do I put the strap locks/buttons? (I do have a set of gold strap locks....both parts...strap and body...may keep them for another project.)

I have seen a number of button placements...even on brand name guitars.

One set has the bottom button on the bottom bout of the body just near the join/tail, and the other on the top bout of the button about halfway from the top curve down to the side of the neck.

Another set has the bottom button in the same place, with the neck button on the back of the neck joint like a Firebird. Does anybody have any ideas and why one would be better than the other????

I’d go for the first pic placement if you haven't got straplocks and are using the kit strap buttons

Second pic placement gets the strap button out of the way of the heel (as it may slightly impede upper fret access depending on your playing style) but it places the button at roughly a 45° angle. With a standard round strap button, this will mean that gravity will try to pull the strap off the button on the body side, making it more likely for the strap to fully come off the button and you drop the guitar. But the angle isn’t an issue with a straplock, or some alternate button styles e.g. the inverted V style ones. Though I would be tempted to use a longer screw than normal because of the angle.

Looks like a fun guitar. I like the diagonal end on the bigsby mirroring (kind of) the bottom of the guitar. It’s a small aesthetic detail but it really brings it all together in my mind.

    Final Assembly completed.

She is completely done. The neck strap button had to go on the side of the body near the neck....the neck on this one is bolt on and there is a tough metal pad on the back of the neck joint.

I also dropped a floyd rose style string tree on behind the nut, at an angle to try and get the break angle I wanted.

Definitely not my kind of guitar, but you got a lovely finish on there.

Thank you. She is so light…but the pickups have some serious gain eating bite.
