I always thought that something looked off in the upper horn on the YB, they just never looked quite right to me, but then it's all in the eye of the beholder really isn't it?
I would really like to do something mental like the BG-46, but it just seems too chunky for my liking. And to be honest, i can't see the practicality of switching between bass and 6 string?
Somewhere in my stash of plans i have the blueprints for an SG 12/6 I reckon that would be fun as a scratch build. just got to find a way to do it without the plastic scratch plates

And the bad ideas keep coming. For better or worse, if I’ve gone to the extent of opening the box, I might as well push this as far as I can. So, L5 style longitudinal braces and cross braces it is.

But first, I have to build some body moulds.

Sure, makes sense. You're not really left with any other choice, to be fair.

A link on tap tuning bracing just in case you’re felling a little OCD.

Not sure how much resonance I’m going to get from the “TonePly” top there DM, but interesting none the less. It will be useful for when I go full bananas and decide I’m going to get some spruce and carve a new top!

That is the future ambition scratch build Nitro. Will see if we can carve a reasonable back plate in mahogany first on this one.

I knew of your future plans to carve a hollow body and I was completely ignorant of the effect the bracing carving had on the guitar until I stumbled upon the subject. I must admit that I’ve never pulled apart a kit and tapped the wood. I have no Igor to assisting me.

Its a fascinating subject to delve into, there are some interesting conversations I have flicked through on the ANZLF forum. Then you get into the different styles of bracing used in acoustics, it’s an amazing wee rabbit hole to dive into.
Given that Igor is in the midst of pulling apart the lab to renovate, I’ll have to wait a bit to conduct any form of tap testing. At least until after the reactor shielding goes back up. Don’t want anything mutating down there. ...again.
