    determining neck position

i'm building a floyd rose kit, with a bolt on neck.
how do i know where to drill the neck?
to my understanding - when i do a fixed bridge i put on strings and then i measure and drill according to that?
how is that done with a floyd?

    Hi Arie,

    what kit are you building?

For the FR you’d measure the scale length from nut to your bridge saddles and then set your neck at that distance, then mark your holes and drill.
Normally with the bolt on kits, you should have some holes already in the body to match to, do you not have such holes?

i have pre drilled holes in the body, as i understand i need to mark the holes with the neck "mounted" with a clamp and with 2 strings so i can measure - how much of the floyd rose do i need to install for that to happen?
do i need to put up the mounting posts for it?
do i need the springs or can i rest it on something?
