Hi everyone, my name is James and I'm a first-time builder, long-time player. I live in the Blue Mountains where I am a writer and a working muso, with two favourite guitars -- a MIJ Fender Aerodyne Strat in blue gunmetal, and a 1992 Korean Tokai Tele that I picked up from Cashies for $250. Best thing I've ever played. So when a whole bunch of Huon pine fell into my life, thanks to a decommissioned and broken-up WW2 patrol vessel (the HMAS Nitipa) I decided that part of the timber had to be turned into a Tele. I got the PBG TL-1 kit, mostly for the neck and to use the body as a template, and have just come inside from applying the second coat of Scandi oil. Once she's all assembled, she's getting a Gotoh bridge, Grover locking vintage tuners, and a set of Toneriders.
The body shaping and routing took almost four days of meticulous work, but I'm so happy with the result.
