Thread: My first build - MBM-1

    My first build - MBM-1

My first kit just arrived this afternoon, a modified MBM-1, ash body, floyd rose, 24 frets
it looks great, and i like the grain on the wood
i already did a first fitting and it seems pretty good.
    2 issues i found were:

    1. a crack in one of the wood pieces, partialy glued back - i need to grain fill anyway, so i hope this isn't supr visible
    2. the neck pocket seems a bit to wide towards the distalend. i think that if the neck touches the side of the pocket - it will be at an angle.

i also want to do a contour for my picking arm, i just need to see how much of a contour

    i've now started working

i did a little arm contour, as I saw that holding the guitar wasnt the most comfortable thing
the body is also now fully sanded to 240P, and tonight i'll start grain filling
i had a little help with the woodwork as it is lockdown here and raining - so family activity it is!

i staind the body using shellac with pigments.
i sprayed on the coats using an airless paint sprayer (the ones they use for walls) with the smallest nozzle (1mm)

this is the after 2 coats of the base green color:
