I "had" to buy a new McCreed file, something crankier...
LOL! Funny, but I hope that association doesn't stick!

And now ready for re-finishing. Three comfort contours, and sanded down to 240 grit. Interim weight saving: 500g.

Currently thinking about tackling a grey burst.

    Nice!
Half a kg will be very noticeable when it's hanging on your shoulder. Apart from the weight relief, I think you'll find it really comfortable to play. Especially if you A/B against a standard square edge tele body.

Look forward to seeing the colour go on next!

Nice work. I had a quick look at one of those at the shop in St Peters in Sydney a while ago but wasn't looking to buy one. My first thought was nice quality but weighed a ton. I didn't get to plug it in so I was wondering how do they sound and play? And just remember too, you can hire hand tools and equipment from hire shops like Coates, Allcott and Kennards and they don't usually cost a great deal. Can't wait to see your colour choice and finish. Keep it going, you are doing some nice ground work there.

Some extensive modding done so far.
May as well do the neck mod whilst you're at it.

Definitely for a future project. But for this one, I'm pretty happy with the neck as is.

Probably not a bad call anyway. I'd be fairly confident that Artist used a tinted 2-pack poly (-urethane or -ester) and it would be a difficult job to match and repair any finish you took off the heel.

I have found through the last couple of builds that my range of sanding cauls has rapidly expanded. I’ve a bunch of varying width flat ones as well.
