Who here has tried the Artist Guitars brand guitar strings?

Someone here had posted in a thread about using Artist Guitars brand string.
I recall the comments being positive, but I'd like to know more.

I'm a die-hard D'adarrio user (10-46 on 25.5") and buy 10-packs whenever I find them on sale (usually between $65-75AU). I'm looking at the AG brand which are $55 for 12-pack.

User reviews on the site are also pretty positive, but I'd consider someone's opinion from here with more faith.

Any other D'adarrio users here that can compare the AG?

FWIW, AG offers a 4-pack for $20, so small risk/investment, but if they're as good as top brands, I'd go a 12.

    TIA,
    Mick

Hi Mick, i have used both guitar & bass Artist brand strings and they seem good enough to me. Also have plenty of D's & Ernie's and hard to tell the difference. Maybe if recording you might pick a slight difference but for practice & gigging i doubt anyone would know what brand you are using.

    Cheers Waz

Thanks Waz! That's good to hear.

I think it was your post that I had read previously. Also at that price they'd be perfect for times when you know you may have to sacrifice a set of strings in the process of a job.

    Thanks again.

Looks like a good deal there McCreed. Let us know how they go. I've got hooked on Rotosounds and it's not a cheap habit to support. Getting 12 in bulk sounds like a great option.

When you say 4 pack, do you mean 4 strings, or 4 sets of strings? I was looking at bass strings, and what I've been seeing is round the $15 for 4 strings. I've also seen the price range for a set of 4 strings, depending on the brand, ranging from $12 to $80! I'm not sure I can see how you can get mush value from an $80 set of strings, unless you can keep your tone for a very long time!

edit: I thought I'd it the ceiling at $80... I was wrong.. I've come across several set at $100AU for 4 strings!

4 sets of 6 strings (.010-.046) for $20, 12 sets for $55 all with free shipping.

I went with 4 sets for a first try. I still have over 60 sets of D'Addario (spelled it correctly this time ) in my stockpile, so I'm not in desperate need yet. That said, with 12+ guitars (and customer guitars) they can disappear pretty quickly.

Bakers - I should have the strings by end of week and have a couple guitars that need re-stringing, so I'll wait to try the AG's. I'll post what I find once I've played them a bit. Cheers

Honestly I buy in bulk from here:

    https://www.stringsandbeyond.com/?gc...EaAswWEALw_wcB

Brand names, very cheap, especially if you buy a stack. They have regular promotions where shipping is free or 2 for 1 deals on brand name strings, which is great for Aussie customers.

Customer service is excellent, usually get a handwritten thank you in each order and often they give you stickers/picks and other bits and pieces as a sweetener. The only draw back is that delivery is usually around 14-21 days.

I mean $5.50 for a pack of Ernie balls is like 1/3 of what I'd pay for them locally.

Elixir are a bit less than half price at about $12 a pack.

All are cheaper if you buy in 3 packs. Bass strings less than half of what I'd pay locally.

I support my local bandland as much as possible and purchase a lot of odds and ends from there, even strings if I'm out, but for value for money you can't beat online. Which is a shame.

Thanks Sonic. I've looked at them before.
Just did a "test shop" and for 3 x 10-pack of my fave D'Addario EXL-110 works out to $7.27AU/set (including intl shipping - not sure about GST).

Domestically I can get the same for $7.49/set (sometimes as low as $6.50-6.80) so to me, it's worth the extra 25 cents to get them within 5-7 days of ordering.

    Edit to Add:
String were posted this morning, shouldn't take long from Sydney to Brisbane even with COVID delays.

Yeah, it's always best to take advantage of their free shipping and other promotions given how far away we are.
