    I lost count on the number of coats but it wasn't the 40 I was going for. I probably got to maybe 20 and got sidetracked on something unrelated for a month or so. At that point I figured it had enough and should have been nicely cured. That was my (not first) mistake. After wet sanding, it looked terrible and had left a rough, kinda lifted surface in a few spots. So, I sanded it smooth although not right back and applied about another 6-8 coats until it was a decent finish, left it another month and, since it was flat enough for my liking at this point, I went straight to polish/wax and left it at that. Not a showroom finish, but good enough for my aging eyes.
