Mmb-4 replacing pots +/- adding preamp

Hi. I've built the Mmb-4 about a year ago and I was interested in changing the pots and getting a new pickup like a Seymour Duncan alnico or something. To take off the old pots from the control plate, do I just pull the knobs off and the pots will just fall out? And I assume I can use some Seymour Duncan 250k pots and keep the bass passive ? Thanks for your help.

The knobs should pull off. Underneath there will be a nut that you will have to unscrew and then the pots will come out. If you want to reuse the knobs you will have to get pots with a compatible, metric spline.

Standard pots are usually metric sizes and if you replace with stuff from USA that will most likely be imperial and a slightly thicker diameter.

Take care when drilling out the bigger diameter as drill bit will tend to bite and dig in. Running drill in reverse takes longer but much safer plus you end up with a cleaner hole on the chrome control plate.

Thanks for that. Drilled the holes yesterday to put in some CTS pots and did as you said running in reverse, holes are nice and clean.
