    Given those readings, they can go in either position. It's just that you may find the neck pickup louder than the bridge one, so you'll probably need to have the bridge pickup set a lot nearer the strings than the neck one, to help balance the outputs.

    I wouldn't expect too much from kit pickups either. Sometimes they sound OK, but a lot of the time they function and make a useable noise, but not a great one. But the low-cost replacement pickups available these days, such as Tonerider and IronGear, sound really good. But I'd finish the guitar first before thinking about any changes.

    Well done on getting a multimeter. They are very useful tools.
