I don’t believe they are McC. I think the jaws of each have been reversed in the spring to allow for what would be the flat “back” side of the standard clothes peg to become a flat clamping surface.

edit: I take that first statement back, on closer inspection of the pics, they are both upside down and inside out!

One of the pegs. The theory is by switching them this way they clamp the whole lining not just the top edge.

Off the form for the first time. It will go back onto the form when I glue the back on when I'm ready but it's much easier and safer to break the blocks free from the form prior to having a nicely carved back plate attached. After the pegs came off I trimmed the linings back and sanded the whole face flat.

Ahhh, I see! I think that’s pretty clever. Thanks for the pic!

Like all of my projects, time seems to disappear and I haven't done much. But I have started carving the top. I roughed out the platform around the edge where the purfling will go first and then I've started doing the rough carve. I also cut the scroll out.

Regardless of the time you've spent to get to this point, I'm still in awe. To see your progression from (I think I have this right) one tele kit build, to a scratch strat build, to a freakin' scratch build VIOLIN, is nothing short of awesome in my book!

    Good on ya.

One thing I'm really liking about the guitar building is that, no matter how long of a break I take, it's always just how I left it.

Although, wondering where you put your DIY pedal kit, then finding it assembled and wired into your pedal board leaves a peculiar feeling...

Nice work, Woltz. Thanks for the inspiration.

I've cut the purfling channel and I'm working on the dry fit.

I've been a bit quiet lately because my focus has been on my rocking chair project.

But I've recently been working on the violin again.

I finished the arching on the top. I'll start the carving of the inside this week.

And I've started roughing out the arching on the back.

Both the chair and violin are wonderful Woltz.

Good to know you're keeping busy, and presumably doing ok with being literally surrounded by a state that's in state-wide lockdown!
