    Hi from the new guy

New to the forum but have been reading posts for a couple of weeks. Lot's of good info here. Have just received an ATL-1FW and have made a start. Have put several guitars together in past (mainly strat types) so have a bit of experience on necks, finishes and set ups. Looking forward to sharing this build when I work out how to get photos up.

Was originally thinking of painting the top and clear staining the back and sides (have ordered Dingotone clear). Still not sure wether to clear stain the top now I've seen it. Anybody see any issues with painting and clearcoating (duplicolour) the top and staining as mentioned? ie could I clear coat over the dingo colour?

Also going to truoil the neck. Rosewood fretboard will just get lemon oil.

    Cheers
    Pete

Welcome to the forum! Look forward to following your build.

I've never used Dingotone so I'll let someone else answer that.

    Hi and welcome.

I know TruOil will go over Dingotone, but not sure about some others. You'd certainly need to wait until it fully cured- which can be a long time with Dingotone if it's too humid or warm or cold (compared to other finished it is fairly slow to harden in all but a narrow window of ambient conditions).
