    Thumbs Up GSM-1 Finished

Hi guys, my GSM-1 is now finished. Thanks to Simon, Andy and a couple of other guys that I can't remember their names now for the pointers / info.
Few things I noticed with this kit was, no earth wire hole, the bridge and tail piece holes were out a couple of millimetres, neck had a few nics out of the fret board along with a few scratches. Nothing that couldn't be sorted though.

I swapped out the PUs for Tonerider Rocksongs and put in a Gotoh bridge. I put 2 push pull switches in for out phase and coil taping. The finish is the Dingotone Uluru. Just 5 coats of the stain coat. Didn't bother with the enhancer. Finished it off with 10 coats of Tru-Oil. Can't thank Andy enough for the heads up on Tru Oil! I love that stuff now!

The intonation is spot on and the action is one of the best I have played on! I've done fret work on a few different guitars now and the method I used on this one was from youtube. I levelled the first 12 frets then started at the 12th with some tape over it and levelled the rest angling down slightly to the bridge. Worked a treat!

Overall I'm happy with the way it finished up. Sounds great too!

Looks good! I've had to do that fret method on an old guitar but it worked a charm

Thanks John. Far from perfect but the young bloke is happy with it..
I've never heard of that way of fret levelling before. I've levelled the first to the last in one go but have never been happy with the out come. This way makes sense when you think of the angle of the neck bow.

I've only done it on a neck with a non-adjustable truss rod that had too much relief, though I often angle down just the last couple of frets. Never had a problem with a full flat setup and I always have the lowest action I can get. Angling down after fret 12 moves the frets further away from the strings, which is rarely what I ever want to do.

Agreed - that was pretty much the reason I had to too.

Works for me. Can add relieve and not buzz out on the end frets..🤘
