The dumbest thing that ever happened to you while building your guitar?

No idea if a thread like this already exists, but today something incredibly dumb happened to me:

I just sanded one of my kit bodies down to the bare wood for the FOURTH time.

I had some trouble with the stain looking patchy and the sealer pulling off stain. Oh and also me touching the wet surface. Yep....
After it was all under control and looking just PERFECT, I left the room, just to return and find a HUGE A** FLY sitting (or better: sticking) in the surface.

I actually tried to save the fly but this is where it all gets messy. Not going to get into the details, but... it was bad. Neither the fly nor the finish survived....

So, tell me about how you messed up while building your guitar. ;-)
I don't know what I'm doing but I hope I will end up with a guitar

I was spraying a body and I use a bit of wood in the neck pocket like a lollie pop and I got right to the last coats of clear and the screws came out and dropped it put a dent in it took a week to fix it

I'm making a bit of a hash of my current kit so I'm fully expecting to be able to tell you the new dumbest thing in about a week...

For me I think it was gluing my fingers together while applying CA to some small cracks in the body.

Disclaimer: I haven't done woodwork since high school, and wasn't really paying attention at the time ...

I once took a pickguard off, and when I put it back on I put the screws back on in a different order.

Sometimes it was just opening the box.......

Plenty of stuff ups but not enough time nor line space to mention them all.

Probably the Dumbest was on my Swampy Tele where there was not enough grain definition and tried adding some black ink pad ink which was a big mistake as it ended up a very tacky, sticky mess that took forever to wet sand off as it just kept clogging paper when sanded dry. NEVER EVER USE CHEAP BLACK INK PAD INK AGAIN was all I kept saying for days and days.

Same build fell off the work bench top face down onto concrete floor just after final polish! Perfect if I wanted a reliced look but sadly it took another 6 weeks to bring it back up to same glassy finish. That was probably more clumsy than dumb but still felt the same.

Hmmm, my first build where I swelled the wood wet sanding was a bit dopey. And dropping my SG and snapping the horn. Drilling bridge holes on a TL in the wrong spot.

Mistakes are easy to make :P

I can add to the dumb file.
Wanted the back of my resonator build DARK PURPLE so dark that only in good light would it not be mistaken for black.
