So as not to hijack McCreed's thread I decided to put a couple of tracks up that were recorded in a living room and mixed/mastered in my office using Reaper alone

The three of us are over 70 and had decent professional musical careers from the mid 60s up until around 1982, Bob is in serious ill health so after getting back together after 30+ years of not even speaking to each other and then jamming for a year or two I suggested that we should start recording our originals so we'd have something to leave to our families other than rusty and no longer loved instruments and heaps of words on bits of paper.

Max plays acoustic rhythm and I play bass & electric guitars and acoustic leads, keys & drums are written in MIDI in the Reaper piano roll and pedal steel is played by our mate Wes Grady who was also part of our collective musical past. Bob, Max and I all share vocal parts ( mine is only harmony )

My intention in putting these up is to illustrate tight editing of instruments and vocals and the value of creating a wide and hopefully clear soundscape.

All plugins used are native to Reaper, but the keys and horns VSTi's are 3rd party but are free

The 12 string riff here is my 6 string acoustic double tracked in octaves

The satisfaction of getting songs to this point is immense
