    Greetings from Melbourne Rock City!

    Hi all!

Just got my MK2 kit this week. Will get started on it ASAP. Already got a DiMarzio FS-1 to put in it as trying to make this as Johnny as I can... even though his sound / tone was mostly in the wrists.

    Let's rock!

    Welcome.

I learnt some Ramones songs when I was learning power chords. Good stuff and fun to play.
Mantra: No more pedals, must finish BlueyCaster...
Disclaimer: I haven't done woodwork since high school, and wasn't really paying attention at the time ...

That's how I learnt to play guitar. I just watched their music videos and worked it out off the TV. I was surprised to find out there is a lot more to their songs than people think.

Just wondering what paint you guys use? I wanna get a nice white like Johnny's but I have no idea what white to buy here in Australia. I went to Bunnings yesterday and they were hopeless in their "knowledge" of painting anything. My landlord suggested I go to an Autobahn and get car spray as he said it'll look much better. I've watched the videos online but I can't find one that says "for a nice white, go buy this brand (that is available in Australia)"

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks guys!

Your landlord is on the right track. Automotive acrylic lacquer is a good choice for solid colours. Good brands in Australia are Duplicolor, SCA, and Septone. On my tele I am using SCA primer-filler, duplicolor metallic blue (some Hyundai colour), with SCA clear gloss over the top.

One good thing about these paints is the huge variety of colours. There are so many variations of white that you should easily find what you like.

Thanks so much for your answer. I hugely appreciate that. I had to order the sandpaper off ebay because I was surprised that Bunnings doesn't have 600 or 1200 grit for wood.

Looking forward to seeing your build progress. The MK2 was one of four kits I was tossing up for my first build.
