Hi Oli. It's 1.75mm thick so a Jig-saw with a hacksaw blade does quite well.
Files and sandpaper to finesse the edges.

    cheers, Mark.

I see what you mean. The whole bridge could have come back a little bit, maybe 2mm, which would have helped, but you still may have had to cut down the springs. It would be nice if there was a lot more intonation adjustment available on these Fender-style bridges, but it's just the way it is. I've had to do the spring cutting exercise on a few shop-bought guitars, so it's not just the kits.

Thanks for the tip... I'll try to remember that one.

    cheers, Mark

Geez didn't notice that you've finished it.
Looks great! how does it perform?

    Hi Mark
    Two things there:
Simon is right. Good idea to move it back 2mm. Plug the pre drilled ones first of course.
I still may do it if im not comfortable with it down the road.

First impressions? It is noticeably more comfortable on my fretting hand.
    Picking hand feels the same.

    Strings kind of rubbery.

Tuning seems more sensitive. Perhaps this is because the strings arent as tight?? I am very interested to know if you find the tuning more sensitive to very slight turns in the tuning keys also.

Ill be a lot more aware of things by next week though.
Then ill find my waterslide decal paper (if im lucky....) and belt out some headstock logos. Tweak the setup And put on a new set of strings.
Pretty sure it will still be bedding itself in but should be most of the way there.

What gauge strings have you got on it? With that shorter scale, you could probably step up a gauge from normal.

    Ok team!

    A few things to report:

    1. Couldnt stand the kit strings with the mis matched high E. So.....Ernie ball 10’s went on this morning. Very very nice feel to it now.

    2. It may be too early to say this but i will......I think i have found “my” guitar.
I havnt got small hands - in fact my motorcycle gloves are XXL. But my fingers dont really like stretching across frets. This short scale is working for me.

    3. Even though the finish is totally acceptable and shiny i think It could have done with about 10 more coats of tru oil. For that truely resilient armour coat.

    4. These bridges arent the greatest and as i was thrashing about the grub screws in the saddles loosened. So as i was confident that the positioning height if the strings was correct i put a tiny drip of super glue on each grub screw and they are now locked in forever. No loosening them now.

    5. Im kind of excited to be working on headstock decals and just playing this one for a while.

    6. The single coil kit pickups are actually pretty good at normal room volumes. I am happily surprised. However .......My next iteration will be towards hot rail type humbuckers.

    7. This is a family forum.
Please dont mention the Great Australian Disappointment that is “Scotty from Marketing”.
Oops did i just get political. Sorry about that. Now back to normal programming.........
