Set up for 5-string open G then? If so, you could easily remove the unused low-E tuner.

That’s my thought to be honest, although I have another electric, I prefer my home build. So that was my reason for getting another Tele I’ll keep one in Keef tuning and the other in standard tuning.

Ash body will definitely be more body heavy.

You can also try moving the strap button to the neck plate, like this. It is only a minor difference. It’s only a minor difference, but in playing position it is just a little further towards the neck which might be all you need.

I found a set of inexpensive, lightweight tuning machines:
    https://www.stewmac.com/parts-and-ha...-3-tuners.html

These are 120g per set. A set of mini Grovers, or the set that came with my non-PB kit, are 200g per set. Granted what I just linked is not the most robust set of tuning machines known to man... But it would be saving the weight of 2.5 tuning machines all the way at the end of the guitar neck. The other ‘good’ option is Gotoh Stealth, but they’re around $120 USD.

Been a while since I’ve posted. I built a TL1 almost 12 months ago, Basswood body (pic attached for ref). It’s a great guitar, lovely sound but it is head stock heavy when I strap it up. I’m thinking about getting another Tele, either a Squire Affinity or the Bullet or even do another build, this time in butterscotch blonde (or as close as). Is the TL-1A (alder body) heavier so the headstock will not pull down.

    Thanks in advance guys.
Hi buddy look give the bullet and affinity a miss get your self an Artist TC59 telecaster I guarantee it won't be headstock heavy it kills the squires
