I'm pretty much in the same boat as Andy123. Blues and rock is probs my staple. Man, I'd love you to give me some pointers on the harp McCreed. something i've always wanted to do but haven't. I'm happy to go along with the flow, happy to practice songs that others are into prior to the meet. I'm hoping it will be an ongoing thing as I miss being in a band.

Well, I've just done that facebook 10 albums in 10 days thing so here's my list of influences.

Pixies - Doolittle (I am a rabid fan and have everything they've done and seen them around 7 or 8 times)
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Beck - Mellow Gold (this guy is a genius and is discography is absolutely amazing)
Alice Donut - Pure Acid Park (Hugely underrated punk/alternative act from NY in the 90's)
The Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation (EDM has its place)
Nirvana - From the Muddy Banks of the Wishka (I was a very late comer to Nirvana, I only started listening seriously after I saw an interview with Kurt where he said Smells Like Teen Spirit was his attempt to rip off the Pixies)
Mr Bungle - Self Titled (Mike Patton - say no more)
Doug Anthony All Stars - Icon/ Weird Al -Vidiot from UHF (I cheated posting two at once, but I do like a good satirical music track)
    The Beatles - Sgt Peppers
    Violent Femmes - Self Titled

The number one rule should be - lets just have some fun.
    What Sonic said!

Man, I'd love you to give me some pointers on the harp McCreed. something i've always wanted to do but haven't.
Andy, I teach harmonica but I had to "close shop" with the current restrictions. If you're northside, happy to give you my details once this whole virus crap is over.

Well, I've just done that facebook 10 albums in 10 days thing so here's my list of influences.
Whilst I've heard of most of those artists, and can say I've heard songs by some of them, I can definitely say I've never owned or heard any of those albums! (nor have I heard of the "facebook 10 albums in 10 days thing")

We could do our own "10 albums in 10 days" thing here.

I love Blues & interesting chords & interesting Chord progressions.
    Stuff like
    'Key To The Highway,'
'Taint Nobody's Bizness If I Do,'
    'Same Old Blues,'
'Nobody Knows You When You're Down & Out,'
    'Alberta Alberta,' (AKA Corina Corina),
    'San Francisco Bay Blues,'
    'Woman Be Wise,'

Mostly Freddie King & Eric Clapton stuff.

    Anything 12 bar.
I have a version of 12 bar that has 9 chords, & I can stretch it out to 11 & an occasional 12th chord but you can't overdo the 12th one.
I also do a progressive simple 3 chord 12 bar with key changes.
    Starts in F, goes to G, A, B, C, D, E & back to F.
I just play the rhythm & watch whoever is soloing get their head around it.

The band I'm in play Gypsy Jazz, Swing, & there is a splinter group that plays Blues.

I also play Bass for the local Uke Group, great place to get some bass practice.
I get to play all sorts of stuff with the Uke Group, they play mostly sing-a-long stuff, old Rock, Pop, Country, Blues, etc.

I play Finger Style guitar, Rhythm, Bass, Baritone Uke, & can bend my brain enough to play Tenor Uke.
I don't read notation but can understand Tab enough to work it out.

I'm not a lead player, I can kinda rough out the melody with Finger Style arpeggios.

Not fussy, happy to play along with almost anything, but not keen on Reggae, not into classical guitar, I have played along with Trad early Australian stuff & find it as boring as bat shit, not into Celtic but happy to sit in if that is all that is on offer.

Well, they are all on Spotify (not sure about DAAS) and premium is free for a month so you’ve got a good chance to expand your horizons 😁

This sounds crazy... but I don't really listen to music...

At least not much, and certainly not radio. I have very little interest in streaming options either. Guess I'm just weird.

Ok well, its not really radio (which I can't stand, especially commercial radio) and is a pretty good way of taking the music you like with you everywhere. You can listen to them in their normal album formats no problems (so long as you get premium)

That does sound crazy, I pretty much have it on all my waking hours.

OK, just catching up on the thread. I am a very long term beginner guitarist. I will bring my daughter as my sub for any playing, she far exceeds my skills.
I like your 10 album choices Sonic, never heard of Alice Donut though, will have to look them up.
My musical tastes are generally alternate/indie and rock, bookended by Folk and Jazz. There is a fair bit of Reggae and Funk/Soul mixed in there too.
I won't put up 10 albums (haven't thought that through and too many of them to pick), but FWIW the first Album(s) I ever bought with my own money were KISS Unmasked & Dynasty when I was a young lad in year 5.
