Thread: Hello from New Orleans

    Hello from New Orleans

    Hi all,

This will be my first guitar build. I ordered a classic TL style. I always wanted a Tele, so while we're all holed up, I figured why not just build one? Very grateful for all the UPS/Postal Service folks who are still out there working.

I have a little bit of woodworking experience, mostly as someone who does their own carpentry as well as some smallish art projects (signs, woodburning, image transfers, etc). The parts I'm most worried about getting right are the neck alignment and learning to solder, but primarily figuring out how to finish the wood properly. Already reading lots, it's nice to have a built in community here to go to.

Cheers all, see you around the forums.

    Hi and welcome.

Start a build diary and ask away. No such thing as a stupid question if you don't know the answer.

Welcome from Miami! Seems like a good use of a lockdown to me.

    Welcome!
With the experience you've listed, you'll be surprised how much will transfer to guitar building.
If you do carpentry, you'll probably already have a good range of tools to get through the project too.

Lot's of knowledgeable and helpful people here for nearly anything you need to know.

    Cheers,
    Mick

You'll find the kits are like smores. You can't stop at 1.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

    Welcome WTL,
You’ll find everyone here really friendly and helpful.
I’m finishing up a TL-1HA at the moment, and make furniture for a living - so feel free to shoot me any tool questions. Also worked as a sound engineer for many years a know a little about electronics/soldering too
