Thumbs Up Whizgig's second builld DHB-5

Hi and welcome to my next builld the DHB-5 String Semi-Holllow Bass Fretted.

This one I will be tacking my time on I am still thinking of what the colours and Finnish will be.

Think I might go with a dark blue back and a dark purple front with blue highlights for the grain, so starting with a very light blue on the front then sanded back to only highlight the grain then coat with dark Purple and dark blue for the back and the neck and the same blue and purple for the headstock with chrome hardware.

The Finnish will be done in a CA Glue High Gloss as will the Fretboard.

I will allso be working on my own logo for the Guitars as well.

It has been orderd and is on its way from PitBulll Guitars so should be here by the end of the week.

So the kit arrived today mock assembled it and all is fine, I decided to do it in Mahogany back and maple sunburst I no i changed my ming again but he I had to redeam myself from my first build that just had problem after problem with the finnish due to my suff up.

so far today I have checked it all and sanded both the body and the neck down to 800 grit sandpaper and done the first stain and the burst now letting it dry not like last time I will leave it for 1 to 2 days then continue.

    Here is the pics::

Kit checked everything and a free Pick:

Even the cat "Chip" got involved he just liked the box and the paper.

First stains done on body and Neck.

Its just not my day today.

Took off the tape on the binding at the stain had leached into the binding cracks as seen in the pics so I contacted Adam and he advised me to remove the binding, So over 2 hours later and much heat I finaly got it all off it came off in tiny bits.

Got onto ebay and orderd some new binding (Abolone) in plastic also orderd some Trapizoid stickers for the fretboard.
Now just asking as I havn't done this before What glue to use as I have seen it done on youtube with Acetone, Super Glue Thin type and Acrylic Nail gllue Any input from anyone would be of great help!!!

So anyway here are the pics.

Im not game enough to do the F hole if I did I would have to leave them as wood, I think it would be too hard to bind it.
I might have a go at painting it with a paint pen in White or silver?

Abolone binding finaly came so put that on with acetone very carefully and painted the pick gard black.
Done a compltete fret job, and had to replace the 3way switch as the other one fell apart inside but I had a spare so all was good.

Looks awesome. I love the string-thru, it's a nice touch.
