Yet another Sale item is coming my way.

I could not help myself and I bought yet another clearance item.

It is an Iceman guitar with a few mixed issues.....mainly a bigsby and a locking nut.

I am thinking a sealed and clear finish....maybe some tinted polyurethane.

I have also ordered some ToneRider Gold humbuckers, some gold locking tuners.

The basic bits of the kit are in the order. Plus these extras from PBG:-

    2 x treble bleeds
Tonerider AC4 neck and bridge pickups in gold.
    2 x sprague orange drop caps 0.02mf.
    4 x CTS 500K full size pots
Grover inline 6 locking tuners...gold colour.

    From Real Parts:-

25 feet white push back wire (Needed some more...cheapest way to buy it.)
25 feet black push back wire
Graphtech 1/4 inch black TUSQ nut blank.
Modern Style Recessed Cup Jack - Metric Thread - Gold
Schaller Style Strap Lock Set - Gold

What to do with the nut is interesting me. I am thinking that the edge closest the first fret will need to be the front square edge of the new nut....and I will have a 10 to 15 mm Rosewood fretboard bank area behind the nut before the truss rod hole.

I am thinking of trying to find some specs of the Truss rod cover used by "I" and if I can buy one that will cover this exposed fretboard section.

I don't know whether to cut a "G" style end of the fetboard nut or just trim the slab and stand it up hard against the end of the fretboard in an "F" style.

    Frankie suggested, in another thread....

    https://www.buildyourownguitar.com.a...ad.php?t=11339

That after doing an "F"Style nut that I make a style piece for behind. The fretboard has Mother of Pearl inlays and tortoiseshell binding....maybe a section of material like that across the gap.

    The listing:-

    "Includes:

Mahogany body with spalted maple veneer top and tortoiseshell binding
Mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard (628mm scale, 22 medium jumbo frets)
Mother of pearl inlays and tortoiseshell binding
    Spalted maple veneer headstock
Locking nut (this would probably have to be replaced with regular nut)
    2 x Humbucker pick ups
2 Volume and 2 tone knobs and 3 way switch
    Gold hardware and machine heads
    Bigsby style tremolo
    Guitar lead
    Strap buttons
All electronics (pots, caps, wires and solder)
FREE Shipping – Anywhere in Australia
Level of Soldering Difficulty: Advanced – there are a number of solders that can be challenging for new builders."

Now this a man of my own thoughts....

Can get pearl to match the fingerboard inlays...

    https://luthiersupplies.com.au/luthi..._list_limit=36

Or some tortoiseshell binding in a shape of some description....

    https://luthiersupplies.com.au/torto...uitar-bindings

Or some plastic acoustic tortoiseshell sheet to cut up...

    https://luthiersupplies.com.au/acous...esive-tortoise

The existing binding is single ply....this is three ply stuff...

I think I will wait until she arrives before I make a choice.

Thank you for the confidence Rob.....I am thinking like the headless bass I did....seal it up with CA Glue and perhaps some of that tinted Poly I have stashed as a top coat or two. Gloss body finish...gloss headstock finish...satin back of the headstock and neck for smooth play.

Perhaps the back of the neck and the headstock in satin polyurethane over a sealed and levelled neck......mahogany timbermate and some topcoat.

I have found a headstock template that matches the normal headstock. Most of them are 3 a side tuners or reverse with six on the High E side. But I think the factory shape will cut nicely into the headstock on this one.

This one is for sale upon completion....need to save some money for the next one and some bills.

That is going to be a truly awesome, unique axe! Nice get! The one thing I'd suggest is putting the controls a little closer to the guitar...
