Which is why I went away from TimbreMate on this build.... I do intend to finish this build with Nitro lacquer....

Don't you hate it when life interferes with your hobbies. And getting sick is no fun either.

Anyways, Last month I tried for a burst. Not too successfully. Still deciding on if to continue or sand back and start again...

It may be worth trying a light touch with some 0000 steel wool on the edge of the dark to bring it back and feather the transition more.

I'm on the last legs of re-doing a sunburst for the 3rd time. Fingers crossed that in a week's time, the clear coat will sand and polish well and I can count it finished. So I know I'd sand back. And swear.

Hard to recover a sunburst. Sanding tends to knock off the small dots that create the sunburst and leave a solid line.

Yup,... as my first burst attempt I was not expecting perfection...

It wont be a full sand back, but enough to get the edges right...

Plus.... you learn from your mistakes...lol

So, after illness and heartbreak I finally made it back into the shed to get sum building on...

I gave up on the burst cos I simply did not have the strength to do any serious sanding.... Can of black came out to do a Blackie...

    This build now sports.....

Nitro Black with nitro clear on the Ash body
Nitro 60;s vintage tint on the maple neck (slightly sanded to non gloss)
    Grover locking tuners
    Bone nut
    SD JB humbucker
Entwistle AS57 in the middle and ASN57 in the neck
    Oak Grigsby 5 way switch
    kit pots and knobs
    kit bridge and kit strings

It has a basic setup... just waiting on the neck to settle before doing a serious setup with nice strings..... the Entwistle PU's do sound very nice clean.

Hope you feel better mate. I too find the entwistles very nice.

I have a standard strat with their three noiseless single coils. The chime out of them is amazing.

Thanks Ozz,... Full diagnosis is still pending but nephropathy in both the hands and feet is so disabling. Seems I'm spending more time in doctors offices and scan clinics than at home these days hence building is totes on the back burner.... Have a single cut and a Tele kit still in the box waiting for a start but at the moment it's not in me to kick them off, let alone I can barely stand to pick up any of my guitars to play.... so frustrating.

I love the way the Entwistles sound. Yes they have lots of chime and crunch up super well. Well worth a set in any Strat..
