This is a call to all, the UK forum members..

So one of my extra curricula activities for the last couple of years has been participating in a D&D campaign. I played a little bit in high school in the early 90's but hadn't really been involved since. When I started working on other peoples guitars I ended up meeting a likable group of nerds, who after sussing out my own tendencies invited me to join the table for a game. Since then we've played nearly every week for the last two years and it's been a lot of fun. I've even ended up having my kids join in, mostly to see that it's OK to be a nerd (the whole table is made up of scientists, I'm a bit of an outlier)

Anyway, our DM has decided to move to the UK now that he has completed his current degree. This is super annoying as he's not only a fantastic DM, but is one of the best drummers in town in one of the best bands in town, so it's going to be a big loss.

As well as the talents mentioned above, hes also a not to shabby guitarist, which brings me to the reason for this post. He's been talking about buying a cheap tele when he gets to the UK to play while he is there. We were all thinking as a going away present it might be nice to arrange one for him to be there on his arrival.

So here's my question is there anyone on here in the vicinity of Oswestry near Liverpool who might be able to help out with the search? We aren't looking for anything fancy and only looking to spend maybe couple of hundred AUD. Just something reasonable for him to muck around on.

He's leaving on the 7th of March, so we have a little while.

It may not pan out, but I thought it would be worth asking here.

Hmmm, I'm the wrong side of the pennines and a bit short of time to slog over there at the moment. Geographically it's a small distance (especially with what you fellas are used to) but our transport links are so terrible it takes hours to get anywhere.

All good, not expecting anyone to go out of their way, just though it was worth asking.

It's a long way from me. It's probably easiest to get something delivered once he's there. For that sort of money, I'd suggest getting a Harley Benton from Thomann. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbt1952.htm. It's around the AUD$200 area and will arrive via UPS in 2-3 days after ordering. Of course, being via courier, someone will need to be in when it arrives.

If there's not an initial period when your mate will be settling in and be around, my sister and niece live in Shrewsbury, which is about 20 miles away, so it may be possible for it to get delivered there if your mate could collect it, but I'd have to check first (they are coming to visit this weekend so can ask then). My niece is mainly in during the day (unfortunately due to illness) so is likely to be able to accept it.

Nice, and the package with the 40W amp does really look like a decent deal if their amps are held in the same regard as their guitars

I'd probably avoid the HB amps, especially the solid state ones. The valve ones (only two to chose from) may be OKish, but I haven't seen them being reviewed.

Had a look round at the local FB Marketplace for Oswestry, and there wasn't anything better than the HB tele for the money. A few battered affinity Squiers from £130., and the HBs are certainly their equal.

Ordering Harley Benton from Aussie IP address may not work. I looked into doing that a couple of years ago and they wouldn't ship, similar to Amazon too.

If necessary I can act an an intermediary. But it might work if the address is in the UK. You can but try.

Just remembered that Agus recently ordered a Thomann Uke from the US, for delivery to his daughter in the Czech Republic with no issues, so it should be OK.
