    Wiring and assembly

Finished the wiring tonight. I plugged it into an amp and the right pick-ups are making noise when they should when tapped with a screwdriver. Phew!
Installed the pickups, switch, output jack and bridge posts - I did (just) remember the ground wire to the bridge post.
Now just waiting for the extra shielding tape for the cavity covers.
next job will be attaching the neck.

It's always a relief when your wiring makes all the right noises!!!

You're a more patient man than I as far as doing final assembly. I'd have that neck on, strung up and crankin' already!
The control cavity covers can be shielded any time after assembly.

    Nearly there!

It was very tempting. I went to put the neck on last night but it was a really tight fit. I think I've put TO on the side of the neck where it fits into the pocket and this has created a much tighter fit. It was already a pretty tight squeeze for the neck.
I plan to sand back the neck very slightly, little bit at a time, rather than trying to force it in. That was not a job for the tired person that I was at 11pm last night. Thought I'd wait until today.
    Cheers.

    Graham

    Final Assembly....nearly!

On Friday I got around to the final assembly. Just have to fit the covers on the back when the shielding tape arrives.

Fitted the neck, attached the volume knobs, fixed the truss-rod cover, strung it up.

I plugged it in - it works! One thing that was odd was that when I had the switch in the middle position and turned up the bridge volume, I get nothing, neck volume works as expected in the middle position. When the switch is in the bridge setting it works fine?? Any suggestions.

Tonight I did the intonation. All good so far but I'll give it a few days to settle before fine tuning.

    Here are some pics:

Looks great Graham! Hope it plays and sounds great too.

Neck/string alignment needs a little kick towards the bass E string though.

Thank you McCreed, I did notice the neck before doing the intonation and gave it a little nudge.

    Strap button placement

Anyone else on here who has built an Iceman IC-1, Where did you place the strap buttons?
I've seen different options online and not sure which is best for this kit.
