Thumbs up Wiring harness made today.

Jaycar visit done, Real Parts delivery in the house. I have the "Esquire" style wiring harness completed. Just the pickup and output jack to go in once the body is ready.

Lots of caps everywhere....and one tiny little resistor.

    Oak Grigsby 3 position switch.
Jack plate with Amercian holes to fit Oak Grigsby switch and USA pots.
    2 x CTS 250K A log pots.
    3 x 0.047 Sprague orange drop capacitors.
    1 x metal film 3.3k resistor.
Vintage push back wire used to connect things...plus a few cap/resistor cut off leads.
One length of soft plastic multi core wire for Bridge ground wire.

One trial fitting and the full sized pots are a little wide for the body rout. They fit but tight.

I think I will wait until the body is completely done...mark out the cover plate mounting points and dremel a couple of curves in either side to accomodate them.

Hanging and drying and waiting time now....hummmmmm.

G'day Ozzie, been busy with work & other stuff lately and just caught up on this build.

Must say you are more courageous than me by taking on a gloss black spray finish and commend you on your tenacity. Can't wait to see how it all comes together.

    Cheers, Waz

Trust me, it's a lot easier than gloss white, especially if you haven't got a dust-free spray area! Never again.

Way slower to get to finishing than the wax and oils. I have maybe a month to go to get to finished.

I think that the neck is good, and nearly done.

The body is scary but coming up okay. The black shows up all bits and marks underneath. If I thought I had sanded well....wrong...this is second time through with the primer, base coat and now clear coat.

Tomorrow I will wipe down with wax and grease remover and give a few more coats of the clear coat on the body.

Thinking about it, the white itself wasn't an issue. But becaus eI'd put decals on the body and headstock that needed clear coating, I had to clear the whole guitar and that's where I kept getting clearly visible black specs that kept needing to be dug out with the point of a scalpel. So stick to a polished gloss spray and you should be OK. Only clearcoat if you have to.

Oops....coat 6 of clear coat is on...drying now. Maybe two or three weeks and then a wet sand and see how it looks from there. Maybe I will just do a NON-WET sand to flatten it and spray a couple of more coats.

The neck is done. It is very shiny....has been waxed and feels so smooth.

Yesterday, before my return to work, I finally managed to get a good finish on the body.....well for me.

I will let it hang for at least two weeks now....then tape up hard edges....1200, 1500, 2000, then the foam pad wet sanding....then compound, and finer stuff and then wax.

This build has been a task.

I do think I am better at oiled and wax finishes.

It is a learning process I suppose.

Neck is done and bodyready for wet sand.

This has been a long journey...for me...but I think I have an even place from which to start on the final finishing of the body.

The spray poly is a great...really quick...finish for necks. The neck is done.
