Sounds nice & sweet, particularly middle on both humbuckers.

Yep definitely the best through that little amp. I've been having a lot of fun mucking around with the combos, more than enough for me sound wise.

    Congrats on the completion Sonic.
Sound quality is much better than demo 1. What'd you do differently? Direct recording?

Are those Tonerider pickups? I remember you commenting on them being inexpensive, but don't recall a brand mentioned. (and I'm too lazy to scroll through 35 pages!)

Yeah, I changed the mic from Omni to directional and moved it in front of the amp. It was previously hanging from the roof as a room mic for when I have people skype into D&D.

This pickups are from Wish actually. I ordered them because they were so cheap I figured there was nothing to lose. I just looked and they are even cheaper than what I paid now:

$17 for 2 humbucker pickups is a frikken bargain, especially as they really seem nicely made. I suspect the factory is churning out 'genuine' pickups for name brand companies and this is their sideline by-passing the middle man.

OK so obviously a lot of things have been thrown into flux in recent times and for me guitar building has really been affected.

At this stage it's not sensible for me to launch immediately into another Deluxster build. There are things I need to spend money on for it that are not a priority right now. It's also a difficult time to generate income off guitars, which has been helping out a lot with this adventure till now.

So I've decided to have a play around with one of the evolutions of this design. It's the same neck, with a reworked heel shape and a rounded offset style body. Really this is the shape for the Shoegazer MK2, but with Sonicaster bridge/pickup and control plate. I have almost everything else I need to make this except for some fret wire and a truss rod, which I've just ordered. I'm going to further canabilse the Sonicaster build for other bits.

I have another Queensland maple neck blank and a tassie oak finger board. The body is a different story. I'm planning to just cobble together something out of the various bits of timber I have here. I have a nice chunk of tassie Oak that will be perfect for the main centre block, and I'll improvise the rest. Rough idea of the direction... things may change.....

This is the No-budget-corona-virus-caster-project - but I'll just keep adding to this thread as its still part of my learning and trying things towards coming up with a repeatable build.

So first step while I'm waiting for bits will be to try and modify my steel neck template to work with the new design.....

Oooohhh! I so needed this to keep my mind active. Any chance it might end up sea foam green? Go on, ya know it'll look sexy in green. And it won't matter what woods underneath a nice solid colour like that.

Hah, to be honest, my instinct is to paint a lot of things Sea Foam Green, just thought I'd try something different. It's likely it'll end up with an aluminium pickguard, so I need to think about something to compliment that. A ways off finishing anyway.

Little more progress. I've hurt my right shoulder so actual workshop activities are a bit difficult. Printed out a full sized image of the basic plans. I'll use this to start making up or modifying existing templates.

Also dug out the chunk I'll use for the main central block of the body. Just need to rummage around and find something suitable for the 'wings'

I hope your shoulder feels better soon mate. Very frustrating when inspiration strikes and you can’t act on it.
