Still waiting for the paint and wipe-on-poly to gas out before I can do some clear coats.

So, I have soldered the wiring harness and 3-way toggle switch. I'm using the standard LP style wiring for 2 humbuckers and 4 pots.

Praying to the guitar Gods for some good finishing weather has finally paid off. Tomorrow, 27 degrees and sunny. I can almost smell the fumes!

    Suns out, spray guns out!

Finally, some nice weather for spraying. I have sprayed on 6 coats of Cabot's water-based gloss poly. I will leave it for a about a week, then give it a light sand etc. I have also noticed that there are a couple of small gaps between the strips which I intend to fill with some CA glue. Then I will give it some more coats.

It is good to be making some progress.

Even without polishing it looks great! That MB body looks like the MBs that I remember from my youth. Neck looks great too. Did you use veneer to get the headstock that black, or is that paint? It also looks like you have a contraband guitar body photobombing the pic at the top ;-)

    Thanks fender3x.

I have filled a few small gaps, and given it a bit of a sand with 600 g. It will now need a few more coats. Hopefully this weekend.

The headstock is painted with mtn94. The "contraband" in the pic is my chipboard tele - solely to practice spraying bursts. I quite like the colour combination though!

    Hope your weather holds!

Looks like your burst skills are pretty good ;-) I have seen that sort of finish on some 6IB50Ns which is why I thought it might be a clone of...you know...maybe a Harley Benton...

Still good spraying weather, so I have given the body and neck another 6 coats of Cabot's water-based gloss poly.

Also given the back of the neck 4 coats of Cabot's water-based Satin poly.

I intend to give a few more coats to the body!

Finally added the final coats. It was given a good sand back since the last coats. Now to rest it for a while before the spit and polish!
