I'll check out the dye. The one I'm trying just isn't doing it for me!!
This guy goes through a large number of the Angelus Leather Dye colours so you can see what they look like.

    Yet another cautionary tale.
I recently bought some Angelus leather dye for my shoes off ebay.
Thought I'd stain it 'Russet' as opposed to the stark white 2 tone.

Here is what 'Russet' looks like out of the bottle.

They were 'sorry' that my choice of colour didn't work out.

    cheers, Mark.

I was going to keep the headstock blank but after joking in reply to trv that maybe I should have Patience on the headstock I did a little bit of messing around in Illustrator to mock up what a headstock logo could look like and just printed it on white paper for now. What do you guys think?

Looks great! Maybe the "by M.W." could be a little smaller and "Patience" bigger?? Just my 2 cents, but go with what your heart tells you

Cheers Waz. My waterslide decal paper has arrived so I'll have a look at applying it on Sunday and then I'll stick a couple more coats of tru-oil on the neck over the top before I give it a polish up.

Well this is how I feel as of tonight.....

Talk about a test of perseverance. Anyway I got the wet sanding done (with a couple tiny spots where the wood expanded unfortunately but in spots that'll be hidden), I went 1000, 1500 and then 2000. And I've started polishing. I'm actually using the same applicator pads and meguiar's as a_novice and I'll admit it is hard going when polishing by hand. I still have a lot more to do to get the fine scratches from the 2000 removed but here are a couple of progress shots.

Haha I was just thinking that I'll have to set up in front of the tv because there is going to be quite a bit of polishing yet before I'm happy with it.
