    To get a truly glassy finish, you are going to need to sand back enough to get rid of the 'orange peel' on the surface. You can see it where the light is reflecting on the top corner of the neck pocket. Not sure whether buffing with a pad will do that - or else it will take a very long time indeed to do so. Look at the surface against a light at a shallow angle, which is the best way to show up imperfections in the finish.

    But having never used TO, I don't know exactly how flat and shiny you can get it. But I'm sure you'll get there.

    Thanks simon, im thinking of more semi gloss as there is heaps of imperfections in there veneer that are showing up as the coats go on and the finish gets shinier

    Another coat that will do on the back and sides, ill give the top another tomorrow but its very close to right

    I'd say with, ideally if you can inlay it. It obviously doesn't need to be as thick as the truss rod cover, and the thinner the better if you don't want to inlay it.
