Waz you just did an application of the tea mixture and then let it dry and then the vinegar and steel wool concoction. How many coats and how did you apply just wipe one with rag? How fine did you sand down to? Questions , questions i have many... I think that this is just what I need to try and blend the different grain patterns and get some character in a dark color.. I should probably start a new thread for this but this will do for now.

Hi Dude, initially 1 coat of tea and maybe 2 coats of steel wool rust solution but then stupidly added some ink pad black ink which turned everything crap and had to sand almost everything off. So all up it has 2 coats of tea and probably 2 or 3 of the rust. Only sanded the body to 120 and made that grade as smooth as it would get before applying the stains and then no more sanding, just straight onto the full strength Tru Oil for about 6 coats then reverted to 50/50 with turps to do the wet sanding application as that helped to apply the finish as well as smooth things out at the same time.

Ok so I just couldn't wait and the last coat of poly was a week ago so I decided to hit with foam pad on drill and some fine cut compound. And this is the result. Sorry bad lighting but you can get the picture. I will wait another week and then move to swirl remover and a coat of polishing compound.

It's a sweet look, even without the cat.
