If I'd thought about it more it would have been great to get a stainless steel insert for the hook so it really could crack a beer!!

Make some mini replica headstocks with your logo so they can actually open a beer, and give em out to your mates. A bit of publicity and pretty cool. By the way I'll have one. Ha!

Great idea JB - extending my range of headstock uses beyond pencil holders!! And you'll naturally get one ;-)

Okay, time to reveal the other thing I've been working on in relation to this build... I think there's a thread somewhere I mentioned that I was starting to build a pedal, and here it is!

The Surfmaster will need some fuzz, so the "Surface" pedal was born (a "Surf" inspired Fuzz "Face" clone... see what we did there!). I picked up the kit from diyguitarpedals.com.au (it's their Facemaster kit), and eventually got it together under the watchful eye of a mate who knows about this stuff way more than me. My daughter then painted the enclosure and today I put it all together.

It actually sounds pretty good - but I'll save sound files until the guitar is complete. The only rookie error is that the tone knob has ended up back to front, so rolling it back actually brings in more highs. I guess I could fix it but I kind of like it - as a bass player I think it makes sense that turning up the tone brings in more bass!

Great paint job on the pedal, very cool. Which reminds me, I've got a Facemaster kit tucked away somewhere that I should get onto sometime.
