Hey, I noticed that you shielded the jack cavity on your pic from today.
I read before on the forum that you should leave it un-shielded as you risk grounding the tip of the jack if the plate is a bit too far in.
Guys, could it be a cause of his issue?

I did think of that, and it could be an issue, what I will do is heat shrink around the + lead and that would sort that. If there was no contact between the shield and the jack plate then there could be no short. so, trim the shielding back from the top edge of the body by a fraction of a poofteenth and no problems

Latest update, as seen the whole thing has been assembled and I was in the process of setting up.
After much mucking around, I decided that the bridge was too far forward (as in too close to the neck), I was trying to get the G string somewhere near an A on the 2nd fret (therefore having in tune E, A, and D chords)
I had the saddle screwed all the way back and I was still about 20 cents off.
Whats he gunna do I hear you ask!
OK,, simplest remedy, drill out the screwholes, bung in some 6mm dowel, a quick coat of timbermate and a sand.

I filled the screw holes for the bash plate so I can move that back and have an even gap between it and the bridge and the base of the neck.
After some consideration I think Ill move it back by about 4mm.
My original mistake was to locate the bridge to have no gap between it and the bashplate.

nice fix Soundguy, so was the bridge flush with the bottom of the pickguard ? That colour on the ash is making that grain pop nicely.
With any luck hopefully the bridge plate hides the dowels anyway

Thanks Wok, depending on how far I move the bridge the plate does hide the dowels, or at very worst only a mm is exposed, but I doubt anyone (else)would ever notice.
And yeah the bridge was nice and flush, when I drilled the screw holes I didnt check the back, before the base of the bridge was hard up against the front edge of the route, so the tremelo could only pitch down.
