Hi Kimbal, the neck repair is comming up OK. I've got a way to go with the colour though.
I've put the grain filler on and one layer of walnut. Looks like I might have accidently wiped a bit off it where the laminate is showing through at the top of the slot

It looks like your going for a traditional colour which I'm all for on this type of guitar . Well done Kells glad your sorting out lifting laminate.

    Tks Kimbal,
The Colour is basically a walnut colour with a slightly darker brown burst around the edge, on the top.
The darker brown is actually a water color, some how it has managed to mix with the walnut brown, which is some toxic brew.
It has come up as a real relic affect, really looks like something out of the fourties or fifties.
I am still wainting on a 3nf cap for the tone control. Must be getting hand made in China.
The pickups I have for it are Gold, and four wire, I'm putting them onto a set of SD tripple shot rings.
My biggest worry is goimg to be the pickguard. Pablo made me a pickguard up witha filigree decoration. It's an aluminium colour so it will look more grey against the gold..
The neck itself is looking pretty nice. I have a custom truss rod cover comming with my name on it. Line 1 "Kelly" Line 2 "Custom built"

    Tks Stan,
I'd say I'll have this together soon. It's only a matter of finding the time to get it done.
a few more layers of Minwax on the top then the sides and back.
Minwax requires a minimum of 3 hour between coats, so you can't really do both sides in one hit.
It needs to sit firm and flat so you can wipe it on. so at least a week before I glue the neck in. than onto the fitting out.
I'm still waiting on that slow boat from China to arive. and one from Philladelphia... the fish eye truss cover.

I've put it on vertically, but you need to wipe it on thin. Flat is better.
