I've been finishing the neck over the last week and am finally happy with it, so this evening I installed it. That involved measuring, sighting over the bridge and up the neck multiple times, and then holding my breath while I drilled into the neck with it clamped in place. Once I'd done that I placed the scratch plate in and verified the bridge placement, and attached it. That was enough for tonight, so I completed the mock-up and took a few happy snaps for you good fellows! I'll finish hardware installation and wiring over the next few days, and then we'll see what the beastie sounds like!
Looks amazing GGP! We need some pics in the sunlight!
cheers,
Gav.

nice one Glenn on the home stretch now.
As Gav said daylight pics will give us more of an idea what the colour looks like, looks like a really deep blue with the flash.
She's gonna be a stunner !

Outdoor, sunlit photography will have to wait for the weekend. Plus, it's fun keeping you all in suspense!
In the meantime, I have the thing wired (and tested), bridge fully installed, and the output socket screwed down. As mentioned in another thread, I managed to screw the head off one of the screws attaching the scratchplate, so work has had to stop until I solve that problem. I mean, I could glue the head back to the shaft, but in the expectation that I'll want to take it off again a few times for various modifications in its lifetime, glue is not a sensible solution. So, it's down tools for the moment. (Souvenir broken screw photo below.)
Hey Glenn, altho I've never been a fan of blue or green guitars (with the very rare exception), yours is certainly one of those exceptions ... that's a seriously lovely shade of blue you've created for your ST ... top job!
... and bummer about the "screwed" screw - I guess you could say you just lost your head!

Wait a minute ... that sounds like Rock and/or Roll!
SG-1 ... "Little Miss" finished in Flamenco Cherry Wudtone
TL-1A ... "Slugger" finished in Antique White Nitro
EX-1 ... "Metal God" finished in nickel-plate (work in progress)
ST-1A ... "Scrapper" stained and finished in linseed oil ... and with the "secret weapon"
GR-1SF ... "Rocker-billy" (just arrived, work in progress)
Being unable to finish installing the tuners (and therefore set up the guitar)I've done pretty much everything else now. The rear cover plate is on, the strap buttons are on, and the headstock decal is on. Pretty pleased with this one!
