Tough decision for the judges this month. Some stellar entries.
Good luck to all.
I never got around to taking those better pics of my Telecaster for the GOTM entry/facebook page so I'll enter mine in next month's comp if that's ok. Good luck to all this month! (Robin's beautiful bass has already won in my mind)
+1 for the IB-5. Beautiful finish!/<\\/p>[/<\\/p>[]<\\/p>/]<\\/p>/Quote from MetalMatt on July 31, 2013, 18:01

Good luck everyone for the August GOTM...Not easy.
A lot of skill around.
The scores are in...
Special thanks to our esteemed judging panel. I have to say they all put in a great effort, scoring and commenting on each guitar. Thanks guys.
I asked the judges to consider the following and give a score for each guitar:
• How well has the body and neck been prepared
• Is the choice of finish for the style of guitar appropriate
• How well has the finish been applied
• How well have all the hardware, pickups, etc, been installed
• Does it have the “Wow Factor”?
Also, I asked them to think about which guitar would you head straight for if you came across it in a guitar shop.
So, here's the results:
First, the Runners Up (in Alphabetical Order):
Bassguy's EX-1 in Aramanthine
"What a mad looking axe! Amaranthine and the nickel hardware sets it off nicely. Good effort on the numbered inlay..not easy."
"Well done, Bassguy. Your application of the finish is top shelf. A really nice touch with the inlay too, I am sure the young guy is going to love this axe. Hetfield would want this Axe!"
Brett's ST-1
"A nicely executed Guitar. The finish is great and the personal touch with the inlay gives this Axe a different dimension. I like the change of pick guard, my only criticism is that it is not fitted as well as it could be. Love the colour and the application is very well done. Keep up the great work!"
"A very sophisticated looking axe. I like the contrast between the colour of the body and the grey pickguard. If it sounds as good as it looks...you have a great guitar."
Pest's LP-1 In Reverse Wudtone Burst
"This has been a long time coming! Great to see the Pest LP finally done. You have put this together really well. For a first build you have really excelled and you should be very proud of this Axe.
In 20 years time I hope you will look at the PLP and have many good memories of the build, the friends you have made on the forum and the knowledge you have gained.
"The Pestistence Award definitely goes to Callum. Everyone enjoyed watching this axe come to life. Keep it up Pest"
"A great effort for a busy young man. Original to say the least."
Ricmo's TL-1TB
"I am loving this Guitar! The whole Rockabilly theme works so well on this Tele.
This is one Guitar I would make a bee line for if I saw it hanging on the wall in a shop..... And I don't even play Guitar! Great job, well done. There is nothing I don't like about this Axe."
"I'm a fan of the look of a good Tele and this one is no exception. The colour is perfect fit for it. The combination of the P90 on the neck and Humbucker on the bridge would make it a versitile axe..nice work."
/Wokka's SGD-612 in Amaranthine.
"What a Beast! You are really improving with every build. This one is very well put together with much attention paid to detail. The only thing that I feel you could have done is to apply more deep colour, I would have liked to see the Amaranthine really dark and sultry..
"What a beast of a guitar! The Amaranthine finish looks great combined with the nickel hardware. The work required to wire this puppy up is worthy of a mention...not for feint hearted. Amazing job..well done!"
"Really daunting challenge to build this. Impressive effort."
So... now for the top 3:
In 3rd Place, Rhay's Telic ST-1
"For a kit that had issues in the beginning...im very impressed with how it turned out. The "played" look combined with the sophisticated colour suits it down to the ground. It screams PLAY ME!..."
"Love this, Fab looking guitar, great finish."
"Talk about the save of the century!
I admire your perseverance with this build, just goes to show what you can do when you put in the time and effort. I like what you have done with this build, it is a subtle relic. So much nicer than any I have seen being sold in music shops."
"Great effort. A nice solid while but for the relic'd part! Looking forward to see what you do next."
In 2nd Place, Marcus's Carved ST-1
"Really creative, different, nicely presented guitar. Wow factor definitely present."
"This is an amazing looking original guitar. A work of art."
"A very unique looking guitar with a great finish. The detail in the carvings is amazing! I like that the carving continues to the backside of the body. Amazing skill....Great effort."
"Wow. That is some Axe you got going there!
The execution of the carving is top notch.
I would have liked to see you go that extra mile and use a colour finish and perhaps swap out the neck dots for Paua shell inlays... Next timeI would defy any one not to want to go straight to this Axe and let rip a few killer riffs
"
And the winner of Pit Bull Guitars August Guitar of the Month is:
Robin's IB-5 in Walnut Stain and Tru Oil finish. "Bec's Bass" (Lucky Bec!)
"Beautifully put together Bass... I like the personal touch with the headstock logo and its importance to you.
I would want to pick this Bass up if I saw it in a shop."
"This is one slick looking bass. The finish has been very well executed and it looks amazing. Good enough to eat...enough said."
"Wow love this bass what a finish. I would make a bee line for this in a shop."
"Just sensational..."
"Gorgeous looking bass, I would hang this as a piece of art"
Thanks everyone for being involved and keep up these amazing builds. Bring on GOTM September!
Cheers,
Adam
