You gotta love the grain in Ash....it makes you wonder why they put solid colour over it sometimes....

    Hi andy
Did you experience some reaction with the ash dust? i had some itches during and after the sanding with this wood.
so, my wife had some strange skin reaction the day after i've been sanding too..thats makes me think about working out the ash grain as an exotical kind of wood, or maybe just my imagination..

    Hi Sansan.

No sorry, I didn't experience any reaction to the sawdust or wood.

I'm probably not the best person to ask though, I don't seem to have any allergies whatsoever to anything really and have never had a reaction to almost anything (non-toxic of course).

jeje ok andy. Not happen before with mahogany, beech, or maple. Yesterday, i sanded the body again, last one before the staining and get some itching again..still scratching, in fact...
Anyway, fine job you got in hands....

Hi Sansan, I'd check with your GP why you are getting itchy when sanding ash. I've never heard of this.
Would also pay to try and sand in a well ventilated area may help or have a fan blowing the sawdust away from the work area.
The ultimate setup is a dust extraction unit connected to the orbital sander, or are you sanding by hand ?
Also wear a dust mask at all times when you are sanding.

Hi wokka, ive read that ash may cause some irritation on some people. Not the hard ones but its possible. In fact, im one of them...tested XDDDD.
Of course, ventilation and masking is a must...a must that i dont practice. i sand by hand. Fortunately, the heavy barewood sanding ends last night, i hope.

Hi Sansan, that's unfortunate, hope you have finished most of the sanding then.

If you build another kit you better choose another timber type !

Any other timbers that have the same reaction ?

Initial sanding to 240 complete....applied neutral timbermate. I considered Ebony timbermate but I don't want anything to detract from the Dingotone Custom Colour!
