i emailed DB about a week ago and i still havnt heard back, hes probably just busy. im sure he'll respond soon. either that or ill post in the dingotone thread xP

this guy is doing a mock build anyway to make sure the neck fits to his work and whatnot, but ill double check when i get it back anyway. on another note does anybody know personally how to put the locking nut on, does it have to be chocked up, i dont see much of a choice behind it i dont think. but i gotta do what i gotta do, does the locking nut need the string doobiewokie (using technical terms) behind in to hold the strings down or something. if annyone knows what im talking about? haha

MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!

as i said the girl went in for her routing to fit the floyd rose and boy did we have a few problems... lets work through it all...

first of all we couldnt get exact measurements because as we foound, pitbull guitars dont have measurements with there kits or online ( that i could find anyway) so we had to work out the scale length and all other measurements of the guitar and just hope they were right, still have know way of finding out whether they are okay untill i put her all together again, were pretty sure we got it all right though. after figuring out our measurements, we finally managed to make some templates up

then when we were happy with our cut we decided to do the outline on the actual guitar... take note of the gap between where the bridge will be and the where the pickup will be. you cant see the gap? thats because it is virtually nonexistent!

that meant doing 2 things, option one was to forget the floyd rose and pay the guy 70 bucks for his efforts or.. option 2 was to move the bridge cavity forward 10-15 mil and chock up that pickup cavity. of course i decided to go with option 2. meaning i was going to have some patchy looking wood on it meaning the stain was going to end up looking like absolute crap. so instead of staining it like i originally wanted to, im going a solid colour, still probably a red. good thing i didnt order that custom colour from DB huh?

finally after all this, it was time to get started on the purpose of all this mucking around.. this is where it started to get really exciting!!

so this is it so far. unfortunately i forgot to take photos while the new pickup cavity was being cut but all the same im pretty happy with the job this guy has done and all for under $100 (think it cost me $90 for everything he did). dont forget to scroll back through my lasat 3 posts to see my progress

Cool, nice job. You can still put some strategically placed stripes of solid colour and stain the rest.

I was the making about it pabs but it becomes too much mucking around to try and get something that might not look half as good anyway, it's easier for me to go a solid colour considering I've painted many things before but never stained. I'm afraid staining just isn't going to do it for this one, although, I'm thinking of putting a nice big short stack logo in the corner as a tribute to my favourite band. Not sure yet, will play around on photo shop for a little while longer and see what I come up with

Okay fellows I have a slight problem and am asking for opinions. With the new floyd Rose bridge in place it means that strings sit lower. The neck is now significantly higher than that bridge. Do I sand the neck pocket out to make the neck sit lower? or do I sand the neck to make the pocket sit lower? :

I'd say sand the neck rather than the pocket. It's more salvageable.

We'll wait for the experts though...
