Because I'm impatient and kind of an idiot I just decided to free hand the control cavity. It looks terrible inside, but the cover fits pretty well and like everything else on this build it'll be hidden. I did have a whoopsie with the bit coming out of the router and poking a hole through the masonite. I think I'll give up trying to keep the design, paint over it and then get some vinyl cut to re introduce it.
I am getting better at controlling the router and have found a number of things I need to take into consideration for the creation of guides. So as terrible as this is craftsman ship wise, it has been a valuable test bed.
Also decided to introduce a break angle onto the neck heel. I was going to do this in the pocket, but I already had a few goes at it and finally have the neck alignment with the bridge perfect so don't want to mess with it any more.
Trial fitted up things like the pots and switch as well, looks like its all going to work, so I guess I can move onto finishing and hiding all of this.

Slightly late to the party (been on holiday for a week) but one way of getting a good tight fit of the neck when using a filler is to wrap the end of the neck in cling-film (one layer, tight, no creases) and clamp that into the pocket whilst the filler dries. A friend did it that way but used epoxy (but it was still a bolt-on) and got a very tight-fitting neck indeed on what was otherwise a very cheap Indian-built Encore Tele copy and greatly improved it.
Funny you should mention that. I did consider that approach. In the end I decided router practice was more important. I was also considering counter sinking the screws and then bogging over them so it looks like a set neck.....

The ill advised adventure continues. In a burst of 'why not' I went ahead and did the above mod. A bit of bog in the neck pocket, squish the neck in - line up temporary strings with the bridge and hold it in position until the bog goes off. Flip, drill and countersink in some screws, more bog and start refining. Voila.
Guess what I didn't do first? That's right no holes joining up the cavities for wiring. Doh!
Off to the big green shed for a right angle dremel attachment. Between some drilling and gouging around with the router attachement it's all good. Hole joining up the pickup routes, hole to the bridge post and hole through to the control cavity.
I only whoopsied twice.. so more bog to come!
I wonder what its' resonant frequency is?

I'm considering going to the BGS and asking one of the drones 'So where do you keep the bog?'
Only I have a feeling he may misconstrue the question.
So does it have a more descriptive title?
