Yeah I've taken more off the top since this pic. It's sits just flush with it now.

In other news: I've decided to stain it. I'm leaning towards a black/orange burst like this:

I know I'm never going to achieve the same level of awesome as these, but I really like the look!! I might try an inverted burst with black up the middle with orange on the inner edges, then black again on the outside.

I've settled on my control configuration too:

When I designed this shape, I noticed that an LP isn't perfectly symmetrical, especially towards the front with the top and the cutaway, so I made sure I made every curve perfectly symmetrical before I reshaped the cutaway on mine. Making it pointy seemed more along my tastes and seeing as I was doing away with a set of control knobs, having the switch way up the top seemed pointless. This gave my the option of making the top horn a little more decorative seeing as there wasn't any need to house he switch there. I'm happy with the outcome but will probably take one more build to perfect it properly as I've learned a lot of what I should and shouldn't be doing with this build. So much fun man

Been a little inactive on here of late. Don’t have a lot to update but I can say that I’ve pretty much refined the carve now so it’s not so intense. Smoothed out a few high spots to get it a little thinner on the sides.

Have cut in the headstock shape; I’ll be sticking to the same shape as the other build - it’s really grown on me now.

The control cavity is all shaped and routed and I’ve made a cover out of the leftover mahogany for it. Sanded it back so it sits in nice and flush.

I’ve decided to stain the back in black. Not far off the finishing stage now. Can’t wait!

Cheers. It’s funny you know - I love metal, and I play metal, but I can’t stand too much gain. I’m still caught on that old 80s tube sound; the overdriven tone of Jake E Lee and Zakk and Randy. I like how you can hear all the notes but it still screams and wails. I don’t like fuzz. I like the sound of AC/DC open chords and stuff. Dimebag had a great sound too - extreme but never mushy.
