Just a thought.
Instead of doing it in black - which would take away from your lovely grain - you could do it in a darker red / crimson or dark red/brown colour??
The art would then merge into and compliment the grain!!

That's a great idea! Especially since I put more orange in the mix! The grain really pops now and I am pretty in love with it as it is! I don't want to ruin it ...
Very cool artwork but I would be saving that for one that had crappy grain, yours has a lovely flame that would be a shame to hide

I haven't thought that far ahead yet ... Haha! I may use some sort of artists pen/fineliner or something. Probably after I've done the intensifying coat. Then seal it all off and make it all shiny like. Well, thats how it goes down in my head ... Reality might be something very different. Besides, if I mess this one up, I'll just have to start another build ...
