Yes the diamond got pixellated too. I wanted to be extra careful to avoid any trouble from a certain litigious US guitar manufacturer. For the record this guitar is for my own personal use only and in the unlikely event it ever does get sold, it will be clearly indicated that it is a Chinese kit guitar.

Hmmm, I guess that would have plenty of members, but they'll have to find somewhere else to meet! We can't have that kind of negativity in the same building as the rest of us!!

Yeah not sure about that, I heard a LOT of wine was going to be involved.

Wine's not colourfast enough to be used as a stain. What are they going to do with it then??!!

Over the last week when I've had some free time I've been working away on butchering my nice new EMG 60/81 pickups. I've made some creative use of my Dremel attachments to grind away the plastic covers and bore out some holes for the faux pole pieces. I think I finally have them to the state where the gold covers will fit. Now I'll just need to cut the heads off the pole pieces and epoxy everything together. Well and I'll also need to age the covers for that nice pretend vintage look.

So I had a bit of time this evening and decided to try out the scouring attachment I got for my Dremel on my pickup covers. I used the photos I posted at the beginning of this thread as a guide for the amount of wear to shoot for. Here are the results (bridge on the left, neck on the right).

Next steps for the pickups will be to cut the heads off of pole piece screws and epoxy everything together.

Thanks. Yes, I'm going for as close of a replica to the original as possible, including wear. I've seen someone made a version of this guitar that was all new and shiny and it just looked weird.
