NEXT STEP...
Ready to sand... to show up all the imperfections an old painters trick is to shine a light on a low angle on the surface you need to sand and presto.....imperfections galore. Id rather sand out all the imperfections at this early stage and reprime than to find something later on down the road where its a lot harder to erase.
With this trick i found some dodgy cutting marks around both sides of the body. So time to Sand to bare and reprime.
I used a sponge sanding block at this early stage cos it contours to the body easily without damaging the edges too much. Its 80 and 120 grit each side.

2 more coats of primer...
Id like to use the primer coats to try and get the surface as smooth as i can before the black undercoat, so i may end up putting 6 - 8 coats on depending on how much sanding i have to do.
Will still use a surface filler, an oil based dutch filler, but will be just before the final primer coats. i really want a heavy build up of coats.

NEXT....
Ive just taped up the neck ready to stain blue. Used a blade afterwards to firm down the tape edge so i get a clean edge. Used a low tack wax impregnated tape.
Stained the neck with 2 coats of feast watson stain. The pics dont bring out the colour very well. Have to wait till the clear is applied.

Yea, i put in a otr cold air intake, i had a 3 inch stainless catback system fitted but cos the car is an ex persuit it is lower than normal and i only had 100 ml clearance, it used to bottom out. Im going to get it readjusted so it fits, when ive got the time. I then got a remote tune which i was able to upload myself, that turns off the cold air sensor light. When it was fitted i was getting 8.9 lt per 100 kms, thats why i want it back on.
Looks great....is the guitar going to be similar colour to the car?![]()
