Been following this diary of your TLA-1R build Andy40, can't wait to see what it'll look like when finished.
I'm about to start a build diary in anticipation of my first ever PBG kit order which will be an STA-1M Strat kit that I'll be ordering next Tuesday, I've already got my shopping list organized for it.
That's looking pretty damn tidy. Love the drillamajig contraption you've got going there. How did you get it aligned for six holes?
@Wokks. definatley worth it. Each time I was able to adjust different things and hone my skill (or lack thereof). I knew it would bug me forever even if one ferrule is less than a mm out.
@ Doc..Thanks for the encouragement...I think your first ever pit bull build diary will be one of the most eagerly anticipated of them all !!! can't wait to see it. Good choice the STA-1M

Well done Andy i hate drilling string holes through telecasters, you can do mine in future![]()
@Bluesy, each time i tested it, I tweaked the stability with the position of the clamps and the wood on bench, the height and measuring and re-measuring before drilling. The only thing I would have done differently is bolted the contraption on to the planks under it for even further stability. I did discover that even if the string through holes were slightly off centre (and I mean slightly) the larger ferrule bore on the opposite side will cover up the inaccuracy, conversely, the ferrule bore must be measured perfectly (then drilled) or it will look like poo.
@ tony...no worries, you can wind my pickups lol![]()

Looked way too hard for me and wouldn't have bothered yet your first attempt looks like a pro did it.
A demonstration of patience and perseverance that has paid off with a really tidy job.
