I just had a look in the control cavity on my PRS SE Custom 24 and saw that the two stock pots are a couple of 500K Log 24mm Alpha types, now here's an interesting idea, what if I were to replace them with a couple of 24mm 500K Log CTS pots like the one shown in the pic?

And why stop there?, why not replace the original tone cap (the stock one is just a generic 50V or 100V Greencap) with something like an Orange Drop cap?, sure, the stock cap works and sounds fine but why not customize my PRS guitar?

I know where I could order the new CTS pots and Orange drop tone Cap from....Evatco.

Here's the website address if anyone is interested in ordering some stuff from Evatco:

For sure, although the stock pickup circuitry in my PRS SE Custom 24 is actually working 100%, it only gives a choice of three sounds, Neck Pickup, Neck + Bridge, and Bridge Pickup, the two pots are a Master Volume and a Master Tone, if I re-wire the guitar using the standard PRS wiring (with a 5-Position Rotary pickup switch) I'll get these Pickup settings:

    1, Neck Pickup.

2, Outer Coils Of The Neck And Bridge Pickups In Parallel.

3, Outer Coils Of The Neck And Bridge Pickups In Series.

4, Inner Coils Of The Neck And Bridge Pickups In Parallel.

    5, Bridge Pickup.

    And here's the wiring diagram:

Dont use those plastic knurled pots in your guitar, they are for amps and you will strip them spinning on your controls, use the proper metal knurled ones.

if you want a 0.022 orange drop, i have plenty here. I am out of short shaft CTS 500k pots right now, they are going in my 12 string, the ones i have left, but i have a few new 500k Gotoh MIJ pots A & B kicking around, which are a good pot in their own right, let me know if they interest you.

Cheers for the offer, I'll have a good look around for some 500K Log CTS Pots with metal shafts and see if I can find some first though.

I've been checking the postal tracking for my HDN pickups that I've ordered, it hasn't been updated since the 20th of this month so I'm wondering what's been going on since the last 5 or so days, this is what it says for the last update:

Hey Doc, that is pretty standard as it takes 5 days for freight to make it's way East and you end up with a notification update after goods being re-routed through Underwood (suburb of Brisbane) before arriving at a depot on Sunshine Coast. Reckon it would be about the same process heading in to Darwin and with today being a public holiday bet you might be in for an update tomorrow.

Ah rightio, I was thinking that maybe it hadn't been updated because they might have been busy, or the freight might have been delayed by a flooded road, or that the parcel had gotten lost somehow, cheers for that mate.

And yeah I forgot that today was a public holiday, I blame that on my internal calendar being way out of alignment.

Hey DrNomis_44, yes, it's actually only been about 3 business days, with the dubious Monday-pseudo-holiday in the middle, so it looks to be on track. Hopefully they arrive tomorrow.

Rightio, cheers for that mate, much appreciated.

I might do a review of the HDN pickups, with a before/after audio demo, just in case anyone else might be interested in ordering a couple of them for their next kit build.
