    Back again.

Although there would have been enough Bondi to do the headstock, Wokka, I thought if I was going to do it again I may as well stay with the ink.
Happy with it now so put the decals on and am starting to apply top coat, just as how many, time will tell.

Also like the back (no photo to day)but the front is a little dull, don't be surprised If, in a day or two it is a bit darker.

Then it is possible I won't like the headstock, pits, will I ever be happy.

I have already lowered my expectations on this build.

looking great Rick, you must be happy with the shade of blue now. The sides always appear darker but that looks cool

Hey Rick, looks pretty good to me with more depth of colour and also spread more evenly over all the surfaces. Once you get a shiny top coat on it will really come to life.

Got myself a flame top tele a week ago and bought some inkjet cyan blue tonight at officeworks hoping to mix up a turquoise colour. If it comes out as good as yours I will be a happy man.

Yeah, agree that the end grain tends to soak up much more colour than the face grain on top and bottom surfaces.

AGgg! another day another problem, why am I so negative.

Gave it a slight sand back then another coat on the sides and face, I sort of love / hate it. I think when I get closer to giving it the final coat i'll give up.
first photo ready to sand the top
Second is the next coat on the face.
third and fourth just more photos
fifth is the back, I'll give that the next coat in a few hours time

Will post photos with the 2nd coat tomorrow if I do anything more to it.

Now, I'm a little confused. (is that hard to tell?) I thought I ordered a Tl-1 that came with a basswood body. I never thought too much about it, then a while back, Jbird commented on the grain. Still didn't matter but now I'm sure it is not basswood (after looking at a previous build, which is basswood). So, I guess I must of ordered what ever this is.

    Until next time.

Rick I like the look of it. The blue should deepen a bit once clear coats go on.
Check your PBG receipt or email from them when you ordered the kit to check the exact tele model.
It looks like basswood to me. It's definitely not ash so the only other possibility is it's an alder kit

They come with a maple neck which you have.

It's basswood. My tele has very similar grain. Loving that blue.

Good that is settled It's basswood, just that the grain is so different form one piece of wood to the other, I like the grain .

The rear is looking good and I'll end up giving it about 90%. the front will be lucky to be 50%, but may be more . will see what a few more top coats will do.

    Thanks for your comments guys.

May as well post the back since I'm back in here tonight.

Rick, the back looks excellent. Once you get the front looking like that then it's ready for clear coats
