Sorry Sam, I cant keep up with all the kits we have, i assumed all of the Jnr's were arch tops

Anyhoo, try going up to 320 grit and sand it so the whole body looks more like the clean areas.

I often find that it takes a few coats of sealer to do the job right, especially when I use the spray on vinyl sealer....

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

Hopefully when it's all glued together that won't matter.
Considering doing another grain filler run after it's glued. (actually considered not doing any filler until after it's glued but it would get cumbersome.)
You should be able to bog that up after you glue the neck in.

Should I have sprayed a vinyl sealer first? Instruction I had was the sealer goes after the grainfiller.

The other thought I had is when you have the neck in and bog that crack, run some filler around the neck join.
(Assuming you are going to paint a solid colour)
That way you will get a nice uniform look, just like a bought one

You are doing it the right way round.

The vinyl sealer I use does both jobs in one highly toxic and not very easy to use step...

Spraying white. The plan was to do the filler, then set the neck, then do filler around the join, then sealer/primer, then the white top coat.

Just kidding. There may be things wrong with all that, but it's done now - not freaking out about it.

That hide glue is like honey. Drips all over the place. Wiped most of it away, but I can see myself sanding back some glue patches.

Good thing it's going to be a solid colour coat, right...

So this gap where the neck meets the body bothers me.

I got a piece of scrap mahogany and started shaping it.

It's taking form. Lost the light before I got it quite all the way there. Still more to do.

I'm going to try and make it follow the same curve as the neck was following before it turned parallel with the body.

(Not the sharp change this image shows, I haven't started on that edge of the piece yet.)

However, since the original has a rounded edge when I place my flat piece on it there will be a small gap. (Or a step before the curve continues, and I don't want a step.)

I'm wondering if the behlen grain filler will set hard enough to bog this or if there is some other putty type thing I should be putting in there to make the transition smooth.
