Start 'em young. That's about the age my Dad sat me down with Zappa, Hendrix, Dire Straits and the Shadows records (none of which I'd ever heard him listen to before). Opened my eyes to a whole bunch of great music and I realised how cool my Dad actually is (and how much of a music nazi my Mum is, lol).

BG and his Zappa.... I gotta get myself that book! I hear it is an awesome read!
Started sanding the body this afternoon, with an eye to applying a dark stain to pop the grain...and then nerves got the better of me. When trying to pop the ash grain, what should I look out for? Do I sand to 180g, then stain- or do I take it to 240, apply stain and sand back from there?
Only ask as I'm new to ash.
My gut feeling says proceed as if the pop coat is the actual stain, then go 240-400 grit to bare wood...
Id recommend sealing the ash too. It's very funny wood with stain. Sealing will help consistent colour
Thanks chaps. In sealing the ash after the initial grain pop, will this be a problem to put a burst over the top? Or is the sealing for after the whole process?
This will be sanded back, I promise!
nice one BG, just saw this on FB.
The grain should pop nicely after you sand it back
