    Sanding has begun. :)

I had a visit today from Wazkelly...bit of a chin wag...at which I do excel....bit of a fiddle on the collection.

He gave me some pointers as to how he shaped the headstock on his MMB.....so lots of work...sandpaper around a piece of electrical conduit for the win.

Body is ready for pore-filling and neck the same......sad that work gets in the way from tomorrow.

I like the sanding done so that the bottom of the neck pocket and the bass of the guitar have no sanding or machine marks....nice.

Just have to do some more work inside the horns to where they meet the neck pocket.

Hi Ozzie, thanks for helping me out with your backup supply of TO.
It was good to catch up again and see the additions to your guitar family, mostly Basses which is great.
Given the limited amount of timber you had to work with, reshaping of the headstock worked out well and it now has more of the MM style beak.
Will be keen to see how the grain filling turns out and wish you luck with coming up with the right colour.
    Cheers, Waz

Nice work Ozzie, that HS shape really works well.

    Body filling.

Got some time today......did another sand on the body to 120 grit....think I got all the machine marks.

Mixed different timbermate colours together....but basically a fail....the darkest colour just takes over.

I decided to use the mahogany timbermate on the body, the neck and the back of the headstock....keeping the face of the headstock raw.

Some piccies as she dries.....see how this comes up.....may do another coat.

Hi Ozzie, mixing TM fail blew my theory.
Did it dry pinkish or has it toned down a bit? Hopefully it doesn't stand out too much with your planned natural finish.
    Cheers,waz

Waz, the body is awesome...the colour is great.

The neck is very slightly light red....maple is pretty closed wood.

Both have been sanded very nicely smooth to 180 grit. One soak coat of boiled light pale linseed oil.

Now leave to hang until no smell....maybe a fortnight....then the wipe on poly...water based through a spray gun.
